our roots

We all want to live a life of meaning, to do something that matters.

My husband, Brandon and I have endeavored to live by this philosophy by pursuing careers that benefit society – as an educator and serving in the

United States Coast Guard.   Common Good Woodworks continues our commitment to this philosophy.

We live in Wilmington, NC and have been blessed with two beautiful children, but we’re also deeply familiar with life’s struggles, and loss.

For us at Common Good Woodworks this means we embrace the hard things in life while believing there is good to be seen in them.

We believe we all have a circle of influence and gifts that we can use to bring goodness to others.

In 2014 Brandon began exploring woodworking as a hobby.

As Brandon refined his craft I started to see the intense passion he had for woodworking and that this hobby was turning into something much more.  Close friends, family and others began asking Brandon to recreate for them pieces they had seen in our house.

So, we decided to pursuing our woodworking passion and established Common Good Woodworks.

We are given gifts for the good of others not only ourselves.

So we decided to make that core belief our mission, to use our gifts to help others and give back.

A percentage of our profits will go back to the Common Good, helping others to see the good amongst the craziness of life.

We plan to give 5% or $5 dollars from each purchase back to Nourish NC, a local non-profit dedicated to feeding our future; the children and families in our community who would otherwise go hungry.

We all have something to offer others, a gift, a purpose. Our mission is to provide a product that you not only enjoy using but one that will remind you of the lives you’ve helped.

Our hope is that we can inspire others to use their gifts for the good of others or the Common Good.
